From headline sponsor UKFast
From the 14th January, entries for the Big Chip Awards 2015 will be open, and we’re incredibly excited and honoured to be involved as the awards’ main sponsor! Not only is the digital world a hive of progress, the north is becoming the nucleus from which innovation grows; and as the event is the one of the longest running digital awards events in the UK, we’re sure to see some powerhouses on the night!
For several years now, UKFast has been getting involved with the Big Chip awards, and one of the reasons that we’re able to keep coming back, more excited and involved each year, is because of the nature of the industry and of the awards themselves. This is because the technology sector never stands still, never stagnates; and the passion and commitment of every single person involved on the night – from the event team’s tech support to the winners – is what’s driving this incredible industry!
Technology offers us the opportunity to look to the future, and also the scope to realise it; and this year there are some really exciting businesses, and tech, that are going to set the industry alight. The sky’s the limit, and that’s why we want to show our commitment; not to mention to celebrate all the incredible innovators, both established and emerging within the industry, who deserve to be recognised!
Another particularly great thing about the Big Chip awards is that they focus on the bigger picture; as the biggest digital awards outside of London they recognise talent throughout the UK, and help businesses outside the capital realise their potential and gain the recognition they deserve.
The passion of our CEO Lawrence Jones - a whirlwind force in all things digital, recognised by his recent MBE for services to the digital economy - is the lifeblood of our company, driving us to get involved and help nurture and celebrate talent wherever we can; and he’s a big fan of northern talent. Reflecting on how Manchester has changed since he came to the city 25 years ago, Lawrence says: “It’s a city with everything you could ever want. But where will we be in 25 years’ time?
“A city doesn’t grow on its own. It is the culmination of a myriad of decisions made from the influencers within it. It takes courage to do things differently and that is something I believe the people of Manchester can say with pride.”
So, Northerners unite and join us at the awards – it’s time to come together, hold our heads high and step into the next era of technology!
We’re hosting a roadshow for the awards on the 18th February right here at UKFast campus – if you’d like to get involved contact firstname.lastname@example.org and find out more!
