Winner: The Neighbourhood
The judges were impressed with all the shortlisted entries in this category, but this was the one that provoked sighs of pleasure and demands to watch it again.
The company behind it, The Neighbourhood, was set up in June 2006 by four directors with backgrounds in architecture, CG animation, digital media and illustration. The company wanted a piece of self-promotion for the first Christmas after launch. According to The Neighbourhood, the intention was “to create something timeless and beautiful that could have a life beyond the festive season”. Its success can be judged from the fact that it immediately became a huge viral success, attracting over 20,000 viewings in the first two days of its release. One judge described the piece as simply “a joy”.
