In 2015 Best Freelancer/Micro Enterprise replaced Best Established Freelancer/Micro Enterprise so that applications were welcomed from start-up businesses.

What caught the judges eyes here was the range of different styles Mighty Giant showed across their showreel, rather than creating own style and sticking to it. It was that “freshness” that won it for them.

"Mighty Giant is a motion design studio. We’re here to help our clients visualize their ideas, the story they want to tell, through design, animation, and 3D. We create all forms of moving graphics for most of the major British Broadcasters, as well as corporate clients, charities, and others beside. We pride ourselves on communicating your message to your audience. To help you achieve that we provide our skills and experience in all elements of the creative process. We work right from the original concept, to the design, through to filming, animation and post production."

Nominations are welcome from third parties. The award recognises exceptional professionalism, innovation, originality or efficiency.

The business should have been trading since before September 2012.

The eligibility criteria for this category were revised in 2013 to ensure a focus on established freelancers and micro businesses. Businesses that did not start trading before September 2012 should consider entering Best Start-Up or the Big Chip Digital Agency Award.

James was the sole front-end developer for the biggest sporting event mobile app of 2012, downloaded over 2 million times on both iPhone and Android. The judges were blown away by the consistently high quality of his work, not just during the Olympics, but for all his clients.
