The judges said

This was a really rich site, with everything you could want to help you choose and create your look. But in this category it’s the results that matter, and this site showed a dramatic improvement year-on-year to take the award.

Entrant's description

"Charlotte Tilbury is a makeup artist who developed her own range of makeup after years of working in the fashion industry. Charlotte Tilbury’s team approached us at Ecommerce Expo in London in 2012 looking for a Magento Gold Partner to build, develop and host the site they had designed. We were tasked with creating a stylish and fully responsive website to coincide with the launch of Charlotte Tilbury’s new makeup range in Summer 2013. Despite only having 170 SKUs, the site was built on the Magento Enterprise platform due to its scalability, flexibility and custom features. "

The judges said

The judges thought this was an excellent website, well designed, easy to navigate, and most importantly, easy to buy from. And clearly the customers agreed - the redevelopment saw page views, dwell time, average order value and revenue all increase dramatically year-on-year.

Entrant's description

Taps.co.uk sell exclusive collections of taps and bathroom products for retail and trade at competitive prices. Originally launched in 2010, Taps needed the look and usability improving. In 2012, the site was moved on to the Magento Enterprise platform to increase user experience through the use of modules and custom development. Navigation was improved; marketing was enhanced through mega menus, cross-sell and up-sell and the overall design was improved. Growth has since occurred as a direct result of these changes.

Code Computerlove with Customer-focused Digital Innovations

Code Computerlove Code Computerlove

The judges said

This category is all about results, and the winner here showed results that were truly compelling. But what made this entry even more exciting was that the results were driven by significant innovations: the use of GPS to help customers plan their journeys and add location-based information to the site. The end result was First TransPennine Express's best year ever for online sales.

Entrant's description

An e-business project for leading train operator First TransPennine Express (FTPE) resulted in ‘two industry firsts' during 2011 and delivered its best ever year in online sales. Responding quickly to widespread consumer use of mobile, FTPE applied the latest technologies to exceed the demands of today's on the go consumer. By becoming an integral part of a customer's planning journey, and creating more reason for train travellers to use its site, it exceeded its objectives - enhancing brand perceptions, engagement and loyalty - and developed a resource that's continuing to fuel rapid growth in 2012.

11 Out Of 10 Ltd with Pure Gym

11 Out Of 10 Ltd. 11 Out Of 10 Ltd.

The judges said

For the first time this year, this category combined entries from both classic ecommerce businesses and companies that were using the web or mobile to deliver or significantly enhance their performance: quite a challenge to judge. However, the judges felt that the winner had applied an interesting online commercial model to a traditional offline leisure business and provided excellent evidence of how this had transformed the operation.

Entrant's description

Pure Gym is a new concept in the leisure industry: a 24/7, contract free, no frills gym based in the heart of UK cities: This concept is underpinned by a new online management system. Processes that required human intervention or that hindered clients accessing facilities have been replaced by automated user-friendly procedures. The Pure Gym system is now being rolled out to support 20 more new gyms. The competitive advantage for Pure Gym is tremendous. Rival enterprises have recognised the danger posed by this new system and are now investing heavily in order to compete on price and service.
